What I Learned
Through daily work with Q Developer and Kiro, plus public demonstrations and customer engagements, here are my key insights:
- Authenticity matters in demos - Real development has rough moments; showing the full experience builds trust
- Context is everything - The more context you provide, the better Q Developer performs
- Iterative refinement works - Don't expect perfect code on the first try; iterate and improve
- Custom agents are game-changers - Tailored agents for specific workflows dramatically improve productivity
- UI development benefits most - Q Developer excels at frontend work and design-driven development
What Came Next
In January 2026, I moved into a Director of GTM, Technology role at Slalom — bringing everything I learned about developer productivity, AI tooling, and technical community into a strategic leadership position. The builder mindset stays the same; the scope got bigger.
